The Brandsrud family is made up of Rusty and Amber, along with their 4 children, in Estelline, SD. First and foremost, we are a God-fearing family. We started 1898 because that’s how we bring glory to God.  Homesteading is the greatest way we can do that. We find so much joy in living this way, but not without stress and heartache. The meat we eat is raised or hunted by us. The garden is full of organic produce, chickens run around our yard chasing bugs and laying eggs right behind our house (well, most of the time), goats are always escaping from their pasture, the bread is made with love, our food is cooked in cast iron, mason jars are pretty much everywhere, and kids are running around outside getting plenty dirty only to be washed up by our wonderful goat milk soap!
